Never underestimate the importance of Transferable (Soft) Skills! Whether you’re from the manufacturing, service, banking, logistics or whatever sector, you need a range of soft skills like communication, relating, problem solving, and working adaptively in teams. Many people have the wrong impression that they should only focus on developing technical skills (read: I’m from the banking sector so I’m just going to develop my skills in this area). Your technical skills are important but remember, you’re also working and relating with real people every day, solving real problems, making real decisions, and so on. Why shouldn’t these soft skills be important, or even critical? In fact, many companies have realised that soft skills differentiate an average employee from one who can value add.
